SASA 2016 Student Funding

COE-MaSS funding

Students will have the opportunity to apply for funding for partial support of their conference attendance on the conference registration form. This funding is generously provided by the Centre of Excellence -  Mathematical and Statistical Sciences (https://www.wits.ac.za/coe-mass/).

A total of 10 bursaries is available to a maximum value of R2000 each. Please select 'Yes' for the field Would you like to apply for conference travel support grant for full-time students? (COE-MaSS sponsored)  on the conference registration form.

Please note the following conditions of funding:

  • Funding is only available for full time students;

  • 75% of the funding must be allocated to South African citizens or permanent residents;

  • Preferable the students should be registered at one of the CoE - MaSS nodes;

  • Students registered at an university which is not a node needs a special motivation from the head of department and must be South African or SADC citizens, but will be considered for funding. Please check with your university whether it is a node of the CoE - MASS.

  • All applications must be accompanied by a short reference from your head of department. These can be e-mailed to sasa2016.uct@gmail.com

Additional funding

 

Thanks to the generosity of Prof Trevor Hastie, more funding has been made available to support student attendance of this year’s SASA conference. Students should apply for this funding through their head of department.

 

The LOC would like to request the HoDs to please submit a ranked list of students nominated for funding with a one sentence motivation for each by Friday 26 August 2016 to sasa2016.uct@gmail.com.
